Newport World Resorts’ employees continue life-saving tradition

In a quiet conference floor turned temporary clinic, employees of the country’s premier lifestyle and entertainment destination, Newport World Resorts, settle into reclining chairs, sleeves rolled up, ready to donate blood. Some are first-timers, nervously squeezing stress balls, while others are seasoned donors, sharing tips and swapping stories. What began as an act of kindness has now turned into a life-saving tradition. 

Newport World Resorts’ quarterly blood donation drive, Bleed for LOVE, has been a cornerstone of its corporate social responsibility efforts since 2009. In 2024 alone, employees collectively donated over 1,000 blood bags, with the potential to save nearly 4,000 lives. The initiative, held in partnership with the Philippine Blood Center, the Pasay City Health Office, and Dugong Alay Dugtong Buhay, ensures that hospitals and clinics have access to a safe and sufficient blood supply.

Many may never get to meet the people whose lives they have helped, but for the employees who participate, that is beyond the goal. “Donating blood is such a simple way to make a big difference,” shared Pablo Raipan from the Legal Admin and Corporate Affairs Department. “I do it because it feels good to know that you're helping save lives-whether it's for emergencies, surgeries, or people with medical conditions who really need it.”

Bleed for LOVE is just one of several initiatives under Newport World Resorts’ League of Volunteer Employees (LOVE) program. From the community feeding program LOVE Kitchen to the sustainability-focused recycling drive RecycLOVE, employees actively contribute to a culture of giving.

As part of its ongoing cultural transformation, LOVE has evolved into the company’s all-encompassing sustainability program I LOVE Earth.
